Spanish Bay opened in 1987 on the north end of 17-Mile Drive — Jones Jr., Weiskopf, and Tatum trying to make Scotland out of a sand mine. Fescue, dunes, ice plant, a hotel in the trees. The photographs here are that ground: cypress in the fairway, ice plant on the wings, the bay already in the shot.
